THE GREATEST GENERATION
In homage to the “Greatest Generation,” the men and women who fought not for fame and recognition, but because it was the “right thing to do.” At Fred’s Trivet, we take care and precision in building things to last. Our products and packaging are made locally, with materials crafted in the United States.

While working at Grumman Aerospace, Fred worked on the WWII F6F Hellcat, a naval aircraft that was credited with downing 5,155 enemy aircraft within two years of combat. A favorite aircraft, Fred recreated a miniature version of the Hellcat, which took flight at Grumman in Calverton, NY. His grandchildren helped fly it!
With his love of engineering and salvage, Fred constructed various products that have lasted multiple lifetimes. One of these classic pieces is Fred’s Trivet, which has endured over 60 years of regular use in the kitchen. It is made of airplane aluminum and balsa wood bonded together to create a “sandwich panel.” This aluminum balsa core is lightweight and durable, thus used extensively throughout the airplane industry, then and now. It resists high heat, corrosion, and daily wear and tear.
Fred’s Trivet is timeless. The sleek, chic design lends itself beautifully to any home, whether traditional or modern. With your support, we will reproduce Fred’s Trivet, as well as expand this legacy item into an entire line for the kitchen and home. Your support will enable Fred’s legacy, and that of every person from the Greatest Generation, live on!

WHO IS FRED?
One of 12 surviving siblings, Fred G. Hosage grew up during the Great Depression. In WWII, he served in the US Army Air Corp as an aircraft mechanic. Post-war, Fred was one of the first 2,000 employees hired by Grumman Aerospace. An inventor and U.S. Patent holder, he married his high school sweetheart Helen, who always had a home cooked meal on the table when he returned from work.
Among the many useful tools he invented for the home, Fred’s Trivet has endured over 60 years of daily use. It has been passed on two generations, remaining a timeless heirloom piece, reminiscent of an era when things were built to last.
Today, Fred’s only daughter, Donna, granddaughter, Katherine, and grandson, Evan, have teamed up to carry on his legacy. Fred’s Kickstarter is a stepping stone towards an entire line of kitchen utensils and gadgets made with love and care, in the USA.

We are officially launching Fred’s Trivet via our Kickstarter campaign on April 10, 2015. On this platform, you can pre-purchase the Trivet in support of our mission and vision to provide durable, lifetime pieces for your home. We have an experienced production team in place who have already started the manufacturing process. We hope to have your support and thank you for your patience!
Yes! We want you to be absolutely delighted with your experience and product. Fred’s Trivet will come with a 1 year limited warranty against manufacturing defects. We will also replace, at no charge, any damaged pieces upon arrival. Please note that aluminum is a very soft metal, thus it is can be dented with excessive force. To prohibit dimples and dings, we have upgraded our design with a thicker aluminum exterior. A natural patina will develop with use and time.
